Diarmuid* is the Executive Director, Formation & Communication Technology at the Ministry Leadership Center. Diarmuid's key focus is on supporting and expanding the integration of the center’s work into the organizational life of our sponsoring systems.
Active in ministry since 1991, Diarmuid has worked with the Christian Brothers, and lived as a Benedictine monk, in Ireland. Diarmuid trained as a clinical psychotherapist in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin. He co-founded and directed a community based counseling and psychotherapy center where his behavioral health work included individual and group therapy, facilitation and organizational consultancy. Diarmuid later served as director for the internationally recognized Mercy Conference and Retreat Center in Burlingame, CA, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. Most recently Diarmuid held the role of first Regional Director of Mission Formation for Providence Health & Services in Oregon, where he provided organizational leadership to promote cultural transformation intended to sustain the work of the founders and ensure the lively presence of Catholic values in all aspects of today’s ministry.
Diarmuid’s professional experience includes cultural analysis, organizational development, clinical psychotherapy, retreat direction, pastoral counseling and program development specific to adult education. Holding masters degrees in both theology and clinical psychotherapy, he has a deep interest in the interface of these disciplines, especially their meeting place in the culture of spirituality in the workplace. Diarmuid is married to A.C. (Anne Caren) Caldwell, a hospice chaplain, and they reside in Portland, Oregon.
